Duke University director of track and field Norm Ogilvie announced the incoming Blue Devil women's track and field and cross country class of 2007 on Friday, June 27.

Blue Devil Incoming Freshmen:

· Beth Maher (Brentwood, TN): 2003 Tennessee 3A state champion in the shot put and finished sixth at the Adidas Outdoor Championships. Also played soccer and basketball. Personal bests of 44-3 in the shot put and 125-8 in the discus.

· Lindsay Owen (Califon, NJ): Runner-up in the 800m at the 2002 New Jersey Meet of Champions. Member of champion 4 x 800m team at the 2002 Adidas Outdoor Championships. Also played basketball. Personal best of 56.0 for 400m, 2:12.35 for 800m, and split 2:09.9 for 800m on a relay.

· Elle Pishny (Stilwell, KS): Two-time state Kansas 6A state shampion in the 3,200m and runner-up in the Kansas State cross country championships. Personal best of 10:06.13 for 3,000m and 17:18.77 for 5,000m.

· Kelly Reynolds (Warwick, RI): 2002 Golden West Invitational champion in the hammer throw. Rhode Island state champion in the both the weight throw and hammer throw. Personal bests of 55'11.75 in the weight throw and 179-5 in the hammer throw.

· Rachel Umberger (Concord, NH): 2002 Adidas Outdoor Champion in the 800m. Eight-time New Hampshire state champion in track and the 2000 New Hampshire state cross country champion. Personal bests of 56.22 for 400m, 2:09.67 for 800m, an 2:54.16 for 1,000m.

· Lindsay Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ): Finished seventh at the 2001 Foot Locker Northeast Regional to qualify for the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships where she finished 27th. Won the 2001 New Jersey cross country meet of champions. Personal bests of 5:00.26 for 1,600m, 10:31.6 for 3,200m and 17:24.89 for 5,000m.

· Debra Vento (Marlboro, NJ): 2003 Adidas Outdoor Champion in the high jump. Four-time New Jersey state champion and state meet record holder in the high jump. Personal best of 5-10.50.

· Catherine Fisher (Boca Raton, FL) - Distance.

· Laura Fuhrman (Livingstone, NJ) - Sprints.

· Mary Powers (Fort Worth, TX) - Hurdles.

· Lauren Strange (Houston, TX) - Jumps.
