Jermyn Promoted To Associate Head Coach Of Track and Field and Cross Country Programs
June 26, 2003 Kevin Jermyn has been promoted to associate head coach of both the cross country and track and field teams as announced by head coach Norm Ogilvie on Wednesday, June 25. Jermyn, who will work with both the men's and women's programs, has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Duke focusing primarily on the distance runners. Lynda Blutreich will also remain on the Blue Devil staff, returning for her fifth year as the throws coach. Other coaching changes in the Duke cross country and track and field programs include the additions of Ryan Dall, Amy Olsen and Shannon Smith to the staff. All coaching changes are effective as of July 1.
Dall will work primarily with the track and field program focusing his attention on the pole vault, sprints and jumping events. He spent the last four seasons at Florida International where he coached two All-Americas. Olsen, a head coach at Charleston Southern for the past five years, joins the staff to help direct the women's distance team. Smith, the 2001 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 3,000m, will serve as a volunteer assistant this season. Smith's primary responsibilities will be assisting the men's and women's middle and long distance runners.
