Herren Named to All-ACC Academic Men's Cross Country Team
March 29, 2007 ATLANTA - Senior David Herren of the Georgia Tech men's cross country team was named to the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team, announced Wednesday by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Herren, a senior biology majore from Rome, Ga., was the men's teams top finisher at all six races this season. He had two top-10 finishes including finishing second with a time of 15:09 at the Front Runner Invitational. Herren placed 11th with a time of 15:14.74 in the 5K race at the Belmont Opener. At the ACC Championships, Herren crossed the line in23rd place with a time of 25:22. In the 10K race at the NCAA South Region Championship, Herren finished in a time of 33:02 for a 41st-place finish. Herren was also recognized for his academic success when he was named to the school's dean's list with a GPA above 3.0 during the fall.
