2012 All-ACC Academic Men's Cross Country Team Announced
Feb. 27, 2013 GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Headed by Florida State’s Jakub Zivec, seven NCAA All-Regional honorees, six All-ACC selections and three All-Americans secured spots on the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Cross Country Team as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during the academic career. The 2012 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Men’s Cross Country, Zivec led the Seminoles to a fifth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors with a 21st place finish. Majoring in Finance, the Litomerice, Czech Republic, junior earned NCAA All-South Regional honors after capturing the meet’s individual title and leading Florida State to its 10th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. At the ACC Championship in Blacksburg, Va., Zivec finished 13th individually as the Seminoles placed third. All-ACC Academic team members who earned All-ACC honors this past fall are Zivec, Duke’s Mike Moverman, Virginia’s Zach Gates and Thomas Porter, Virginia Tech’s Brayden Burleigh and Will Mulherin. Mulherin, the 2011 ACC individual champion, also earned All-American recognition along with Virginia’s Gates. Wake Forest’s Garret Drogosch secured a berth on the league’s academic honor team for a fourth time while Duke’s James Kostelnik and NC State’s Patrick Campbell were named for the third time in their careers.
