![]() Duke's Maddie McKeever named ACC Scholar-Athlete for Women's Cross Country Feb. 27, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke junior Maddie McKeever has been named the 2007 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's cross country, ACC Commissioner John Swofford announced today. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award was established this past September to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sport. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 during the last two semesters. McKeever, a Biology major, led all Blue Devil runners this past fall with an 11th place finish at the ACC women's cross country championship, finishing the 6k course in 21:29.1. A two-time cross country All-American and a two-time Academic All-American, McKeever also finished fourth in the Southeast Regional leading Duke to a second-place finish in November. The Littleton, Colo., product has turned in 17th and 21st-place finishes in each of the last two NCAA championships. McKeever is a two-time All-ACC Cross Country honoree and has been named to the ACC Honor Roll twice.
