ATLANTA - Georgia Tech was the top women's cross country team in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the classroom last fall, according to a list released Thursday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Jackets had a cumulative grade point average of 3.51 to lead the conference, making them one of the teams from across the country to earn National All-Academic Cross Country Team honors.

"We are very proud that the women have the top GPA in the conference," said head coach Alan Drosky. "Georgia Tech puts a major emphasis on academics and we are always working to make improvements in the classroom."

Eleven of the 15 members of the women's team earned a spot on the Georgia Tech dean's list in the fall, including junior Elena Linn and freshman Carola Conces, who each accomplished a perfect 4.0 for the semester. Georgia Tech athletes must maintain at least a 3.00 GPA for the past semester, to earn Dean's List honors.
