ATLANTA - Sophomores Nazar Trilisky and Nisha Kurian were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams, respectively, announced Wednesday by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
The All-ACC Academic team recognizes student-athletes who have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during their academic career while making a significant contribution in their sport.
Trilisky, a sophomore from Snellville, Ga., was the Jackets' top runner during the cross country season as he finished first among Tech runners in five of six meets this fall. He also placed sixth overall at the Mercer Atlanta Meet and 18th overall at the Florida State Invitational. Trilisky is a computer engineering major and achieved a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. His cumulative GPA at Georgia Tech is a 3.93.
Kurian, a sophomore from Canton, Ohio, was the top runner for the women. She placed eighth overall at the Mercer Atlanta Meet and 19th overall at the Florida State Invitational while finishing first among Tech runners in five of six meets this season. Kurian had a 4.0 GPA in chemical engineering during the fall semester and has a cumulative GPA of 3.69.
Also making a 3.0 or better last semester on the men's side were Miguel Amador, Chris Bishop, Chris Clarke, Blake Fertitta, Josh Hammel, David Herren, Derek Hoye, Greg Johnson, Adam Jones, Masato Kan, Matt Kinsel, Paul Specht, James Taylor, and Zack Wansley. For the women, Allison Childress, Mary Chind, Kirby Cross, Natalie Darraugh, Jill Davis, Barbie Daymude, Sheila Eshraghi, Maria Hampton, Ashley Keck, Veronica Kinard, Kelly Kisling, Elena Linn, Theresa Mahfood, Jenny Sims, Carla Uribe, and Emily Yandle achieved a 3.0 or better this past fall.
