TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Florida State women's cross country team finished 28th in its first ever appearance at the 2002 NCAA Championships held Monday in Terre Haute, Ind. The Lady Seminoles were led by senior Vicky Gill who finished 15th overall out of a field of 254 runners with a time of 20:07.4 in the 6k race.

Finishing second for the Lady Seminoles and 165th overall was senior Allison Lind (21:48.5). Following Lind in 188th place was fellow senior Misty Harper (21:58.0), while sophomore Natalie Hughes placed 197th (22:05.6). Rounding out the performers for the Lady Seminoles were sophomores Anne Clinton in 231st place (22:34.6) and Laura Melendez in 251st place (23:38.0) and freshman Jennifer Gomez in 254th place (24:12.0).

In men's action, sophomore Joep Tigchelaar, who earned an individual bid to compete in the men's 10k NCAA Championship race, place 107th out of 251 competitors with a time of 31:10.1.
