![]() Cross Country ACCtion: Saturday, November 17 Nov. 17, 2007 Duke Men's Cross Country Takes Second Place At IC4A's BRONX, N.Y. - In their final meet of the season, the Duke men's cross country team took second place at the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., with 73 team points. Only Georgetown with 38 points finished ahead of Duke in the 15 team meet. The Blue Devil women's "B" team placed 12th at the ECAC Championships with 262 points at the same location. Duke's top finisher was freshman Bo Waggoner, who ran the five-mile course in 25:22 and placed second. Right behind him was senior captain Chris Spooner, who wrapped up his cross country career with a time of 25:24 for a third-place finish. Junior Kevin McDermott placed eighth in a return to his home state with a time of 25:28. Running his best race of the season was freshman Cory Nanni, who took 25th place with a clocking of 25:47. Rounding out the Blue Devils top five was freshman Joshua Lund in 35th place in a time of 25:57. With their top-25 finishes, Waggoner, Spooner, McDermott and Nanni each qualified for All-East honors. Spooner was the only one of the four who had earned the honors prior to this year. It was the first time since 1998 that four Duke runners earned All-East accolades.
