Duke, North Carolina, and NC State at Wolfpack Invitational

CARY, N.C. - The Duke men's and women's cross country "B" teams both won the five-kilometer Wolfpack Invitational on Saturday morning at the SAS Complex in Cary, N.C. Competing against North Carolina and host N.C. State, the men scored 22 points and the women had 15 in winning the meet. The men had five runners compete while nine women made the run for the Blue Devils.

For the men, freshman Andrew Palumbo had a good race with a fourth-place finish in a time of 15:48.7. He was the top Blue Devil runner at a meet for the first time this season. In sixth place was sophomore Will Smith with a clocking of 15:54.38. Third for Duke and ninth at the meet was sophomore James Osborne in 15:58.93. Rounding out the Blue Devil five were sophomores Ken Sullivan (14th, 16:23.90) and Nathan Blatt (19th, 17:33.56).


Virginia Tech at Hokie Open

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Freshman Asia Washington finished first in the women's standings and Chris Padilla took the event title in the men's race to lead the Virginia Tech cross country teams at the Hokie Open on Saturday morning.

The women's race was a 4k competition on the Virginia Tech Cross Country Course, and Washington led the eight runner field with a 15:05.5 effort. In her third competition of the year, Washington recorded her highest finish of the season.
