Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Virginia's Jennifer Owens (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) finished fourth and teammate Sarah Folse (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) took seventh to help the Virginia women's cross country team finish fourth at the 1999 ACC Cross Country Championships held at the University of North Carolina today. The Cavaliers amassed 77 points to secure the third spot behind champion North Carolina (44) and North Carolina State (56), who had the individual champion in Christy Nichols.Both Owens and Folse were named All-ACC. This is Owens' second consecutive All-ACC honor while it is Folse's first time to be so honored.

On the men's side, Virginia's Bobby Thiele (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) took fifth place and was named an All-ACC performer for the second consecutive year. His fifth place finish prevented the NC State Wolfpack from claiming the top five spots en route to the championship.

The Cavaliers will return to action in two weeks to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 13 in Greenville, SC.
