FSU Shines On New Home Course At FSU Invitational TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State cross country teams (Women-No. 11/ Men-No. 28) unveiled its new home course at the Apalachee Regional Park Saturday morning with the Seminoles lone home meet of the season, the FSU Invitational. FSU's women posted 50 points in the 5K to earn second place while the men placed fourth in the 8K with 84 points. Stephen F. Austin swept the meet with the men and women taking home both trophies while in-state rival Florida finished in fourth place on the women's front and second in the men's race. The women's 5K run was dominated by FSU's Jennifer Dunn who took home the title with an impressive run of 17:41.43 that beat out 68 other participants. Quickly following was senior Christina Woytalewicz in fifth place with a solid performance of 18:11.71 and Kacey Gibson rounding off the top 10 in seventh place with a time of 18:20.97. Christal Washington placed 13th with her finish time of 18:38.34 while Bree McArdle took 24th with a time of 19:08.39. Miami Squads Place In Top 10 at Disney Cross Country Classic ORLANDO - The University of Miami men's and women's cross country teams each competed in the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday morning. The Hurricane men sent a season-high seven runners and saw yet another strong performance from junior Charles Michel, who placed 18th overall. For the fourth time this season Michel was the first Miami runner to cross the finish line with a time 26:58.00. Also for the fourth time, senior Julio Bonilla was the second runner to finish for the `Canes at 27:58.10. The other scorers for Miami were freshman Greg Kaczka and sophomore Matthew Wilson, with freshmen Reginald Buford making his collegiate debut with a scoring effort as the fifth UM runner to finish. Cross Country Comes In Second Place At New England's
Boston, Mass. - The Boston College women's cross country team, led by freshman Elizabeth Hynes, turned in a second place finish with 170 points at the New England Championships. The meet featured 49 different teams from around New England, and it was held at Franklin Park. The Eagles had three runners place in the top 30, and five runners place in the top 60. Brown University won the meet with 130 points. Another Ivy League school in Dartmouth finished with 201 points, which was good enough for third place. MIT came in fourth place with 217 points. University of New Hampshire rounded out the top five with 225 points. This meet once again featured an effective mix of upperclassmen and freshman for Boston College. Hynes crossed the line in ninth place with a time of 18:16, while senior Kelly Gross finished in 22nd place with a time of 18:30. Gross's classmate Samantha Gawrych had a solid day as well for the Eagles as she finished in 27th place with a time of 18:35. Clemson @ Furman Invitational (Check back for results)
