WILLIAMSBURG, Va.--Cavaliers Bobby Thiele (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) and Jennifer Owens (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) both won their races today at the William & Mary Colonial Invitational and helped Virginia to take second in both the men's and women's divisions as well.

Owens won her 5,000-meter race by ten seconds over Old Dominion's Julie Spolidoro, and the Cavaliers placed three runners in the top seven. Sarah Folse (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) took fifth and captain Dana Coons (Vienna, Va./James Madison) finished in seventh to help lead the Cavalier charge, but the Tribe nipped the Cavaliers by a score of 30-34.

Thiele won his first race of the season by a nine-second margin over William & Mary's Gene Manner. Virginia's Justin Wood (Nevada City, Calif./Nevada Union) finished in fourth and Damond Cromer (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was eighth, but the Tribe upended the Cavaliers by a score of 30-40.

Virginia will travel to New York to compete in the Iona Meet of Champions next Saturday, Oct. 2.
