Duke: Men - 1st place EARLYSVILLE, Va. - Virginia All-American Emily Harrison led a pack of four Virginia runners in the top 10 with her first-place finish, helping the Cavalier women take the team title at the Lou Onesty Invitational as Virginia defeated regional rival William and Mary 30-37 today (Sept 8) at Panorama Farms. Lauretta Dezubay and Stephanie Garcia finished third and fourth, respectively, to help pace the women's side. The Cavalier men put two runners in the top ten, led by Andy Biladeau's individual title and Ryan Foster's seventh-place finish, but Virginia was edged out by Duke 35-55 as the Blue Devils ran five in the top 14, including scoring 5-6-7-8-9.
On the men's side, Andy Biladeau won the opening race of the 2007, running 24:25.8 over the 8K course, besting Tamas Kovacs from High Point by 12 seconds. Ryan Foster ran 25:14.8, finishing seventh overall and fourth in the team scoring. Michael Hagos and Trey Miller finished within 12 seconds of each other to run third and fourth for Virginia, while James Erickson led a pack of four Cavaliers, including Alex Bowman, Chris Clark and Alec Lorenzoni who finished 32-35 in a span of seven seconds. Graham Tribble ran seven seconds behind his group of teammates, while Kevin Tschirhardt finished six seconds behind Tribble.
Virginia Tech: BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Hokie cross country program produced a pair of first-place finishes in the Virginia Tech Invitational on Saturday morning at Tech Cross Country Course. Each team took the team title by eight points over the runners-up. The men's team's top five totaled 45 points while the women's team total was 27. Tech runners Rider Clauss (19:00), Eddie Judge (19:01) and Matt Saunders (19:01) took spots six through eight in the individual standings on the 5.8 k course. Samantha Ference finished fourth in the women's individual race, with a 4k time of 14:46. +Read More
Clemson: Women - 1st place WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Clemson women's cross country team carried a full squad to the UNC-Wilmington campus for the 22nd annual Seahawk Invitational on Friday. The team came through with a first-place finish out of six schools and showed improvement over its first meet of the season, the Gamecock Invitational last Friday. Clemson had a total of 35 points and held off East Carolina, who was second with 39. Host school UNC-Wilmington finished third with 65, while Campbell had an 85-point total. Pfeiffer (146) and Mount Olive (190) also competed Friday. +Read More
Georgia Tech: CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Georgia Tech women's cross country team finished first, while the men's team placed fourth at the UTC Invitational in the team's season opener Friday evening at the Moccasin Bend race course in Chattanooga, Tenn. The women's team, led by seniors Nisha Kurian and Jenny Sims, had seven members finish in the top 25. Kurian led all Tech runners by finishing the two-mile race in 11:12 and a second-place finish overall. Sims crossed the line just behind Kurian, also garnering an official time of 11:12. On the men's side, David Herren led Tech with a fourth-place finish overall in the five kilometer race. Herren crossed the line with a time of 15:21. Miami: GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Miami men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up action at Friday's 2007 Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. with fourth and eighth-place finishes, respectively. Led by junior Ryan Woodlee, who finished 20th overall in the 8,000-meter competition with a time of 26:24.22, the UM men finished fourth overall with 107 combined points. In the women's 5,000-meter race senior Delia Phlatts paced the Hurricanes, who placed eighth overall with 223 points. Phlatts turned in a time of 19:42.59 to finish 29th overall. +Read More
