July 20, 2007

ALGIERS, ALGERIA - Virginia All-American Yemi Ayeni, who won the ACC title in the discus in 2007 en route to taking seventh nationally, finished fourth in his signature event at the All-African Games today. After opening the competition with a 189' 1" (57.63m), Ayeni tossed a 57.64m on his fifth throw to keep himself in the top four of the continental games.

Ayeni set the school record this season, tossing a 200' 6" at the NCAA East Regional meet, which earned him a berth to the NCAA Championships, where he finished seventh nationally and become Virginia's first-ever All-American in the discus.
