Dawn Cleary finished fifth at the USA National Championships in the steeplechase with a PR and record

Virginia's Dawn Cleary became the first ACC athlete to dip below 10 minutes in the steeplechase with her 9:59.30 and finished 5th at the USA National Championships. She lowered her record by .39 seconds a week after taking sixth at the NCAA Championships. She was accompanied in the top-10 by Kiamesha Otey who took 10th in the long jump.

Otey, who took 10th at the NCAA meet last week, jumped 6.22m (20' 5"). Also competing for Virginia were Carielle Doe, who ran in the semifinals of the 400m (54.09), and Eliese Mitchell, who competed in the shot put (15.45m).
