Florida State's Mitchell, Miami's Brown Earn Last ACC Track & Field Weekly Honor of 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Florida State sophomore Maurice Mitchell and Miami junior Ti’erra Brown were named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for the period ending May 16, announced today. Mitchell and Brown each won two events at the Georgia Tech Invitational last weekend to collect the final performer of the week honors of the 2010 outdoor season. Mitchell, who was the most valuable track athlete of both the ACC indoor and outdoor championships, ran a 10.11 in the 100-meter dash preliminary, ranking third in school history and fifth in the nation this season. He followed that performance with a 10.25 in the final to claim the victory. The Kansas City, Mo., native, who was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that earned co-performers of the week accolades last week, again helped the squad to victory with a 39.06 time to beat a field of 20. The time ranks second in the nation and fifth in school history.
ACC outdoor track & field teams are idle until Friday-Saturday, May 28-29, where they will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The 2010 NCAA Championships take place June 9-12. All ACC men’s and women’s outdoor track & field information can be accessed at theACC.com.
