GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State junior Amanda Winslow and Virginia freshman Nick Vena have been named the ACC Track & Field Performers of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Winslow posted the national-leading time in the 1500 meters (4:13.75) Saturday at the Seminole Invitational. The cross country and indoor track All-American locked up with Great Britain Olympic hopeful and former Seminole Barbara Parker before ultimately finishing in second. Winslow, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., set a new personal best, bettering her previous collegiate standard by nearly three seconds.
Vena took home the shot put title at the Patriot Open Invitational on Sunday in Fairfax, Va. The Morristown, N.J. native broke his own school record with a distance of 19.27 meters, which stands as the top mark in the conference this season and ranks 10th in the nation.
