GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State's Charles Clark and Miami's Khadija Talley have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week, respectively, after recording a pair of record performances at meets over the weekend. Clark, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., took first place in the 400-meter dash at the Seminole Invitational this past weekend. His time of 45.30 is the best in the league this season, second-best in the nation this season, and is the third-best ever in Florida State history. Clark's performance also broke the track record, and easily qualifies him for the upcoming NCAA East Regional meet. Miami's Talley took top honors in both the shot put and discus, and placed second in the hammer throw, at the Miami Elite meet in Coral Gables, Fla., over the weekend. With a throw of 187'4" in the discus, the Fort Benning, Ga., senior smashed her previous best, breaking both the Miami and ACC all-time records for the event. Talley is now a regional qualifier in the discus, shot put and the hammer throw. Up next for Clark, Talley, and the rest of the league are this week's ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are set to be held at George C. Griffin Track on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. Events will begin this Thursday, April 17, and conclude on Saturday, April 19. The 2008 championships will be available for viewing at www.ACCSelect.com.
