ACC Announces Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for April 6-12

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia’s Andrew Jesien and Florida State’s Pilar McShine have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Performers of the Week for the week of April 6-12. Each performer earned regional qualification with the marks that saw them to the top-10 of the NCAA Performance Lists. Jesien, a senior from Bethesda, Md., finished first in the mile last week at the Lou Onesty Invitational in Charlottesville with a time of 4:02.18. When the time is converted to the 1500m, Jesien’s time of 3:43.51 would rank first in the league and sixth nationally. The Virginia fourth-year led a trio of Cavaliers that finished within three seconds of each other. Jesien earns regional qualification with the time. McShine, a junior for the Seminoles from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, nabbed regional qualification last weekend in the 800m with a first place time of 2:05.48. She ranks first in the ACC and fifth nationally with the personal best time. The fast time came at the Seminole Invitational in the friendly confines of Mike Long Track in Tallahassee. Next up will be the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships which open on Thursday, April 16 at Miami’s Cobb Stadium. The meet runs through Saturday, April 18 in Coral Gables.
