![]() Miami's Harris, Florida State's Barroilhet and Williams Earn ACC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors
April 8, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Miami's Tim Harris and Florida State's Gonzalo Barroilhet have been chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Co-Performers of the Week for Outdoor Track and Field. On the women's side, the Seminoles' Kim Williams earned her first weekly honor of the outdoor season. Harris, a senior for the Hurricanes, took first-place in the 800-meter run at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., this past weekend. His time of 1:47.73 is the fastest 800-meter performance in both the league and nation this season, and qualifies the Miami, Fla., product for the upcoming NCAA East Regional meet next month.
A freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, Williams recorded the ACC's and nation's top overall mark in the triple jump with a leap of 44'9.50" in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. That mark, which qualifies Williams for the 2008 NCAA East Regional, bested the league's previous top performance of the season by almost four feet, and is nearly two feet better than any other collegiate jump this season. Next up for Florida State is this weekend's Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. The Hurricanes will host the Miami Elite Invitational this Saturday. Both teams will then travel to Atlanta, Ga., for the 2008 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set to be held on the campus of Georgia Tech on April 17-19.
