FSU's Rodgers, Georgia Tech's Wagner and Miami's Morse Named ACC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State's Teona Rodgers and Georgia Tech's Bailey Wagner earn ACC Women's Outdoor Co-Performers of the Week while Miami's Mikese Morse takes Men's honor. The first weekly awards of the 2009 outdoor season represented the week ending on March 22.
Rodgers, a sophomore sprinter from Tampa, Fla., broke the Seminole school record in the 100m Hurdles with a fast time of 13.01 seconds. She also won the 100m in 11.55 to earn her second regional qualification time of the Disney Invitational. Rodgers also set new personal records in both events.
Wagner, a freshman from Lake Villa, Ill., led the way for the Yellow Jackets at the Miami Hurricane Invitational. In her first outdoor meet, Wagner set a new school record in the shot put with a mark of 14.77m (48-05.50). She also won the discus with a toss of 47.67m (156-05.00). Wagner recorded regional qualification marks in both events to open her outdoor career in style.
Miami's Morse, a junior from Tampa, Fla., backed up his indoor All American honors in the long jump with regional qualification outdoors with a leap of 7.62m (25-0.0) to win first place at the Hurricane Invitational. Morse eclipsed the regional standard by just shy of a foot.
The outdoor season hits its full stride this weekend as all twelve league teams will be in action at meets from Massachusetts to California. The ACC crescendo to the 2009 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Coral Gables, Fla. at Miami's Cobb Stadium on April 16-18.
