GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke’s Amy Fryt and Jade Ellis has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week. The Duke duo each posted personal bests in the final weekend before the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Fryt, a sophomore from Goldsboro, N.C., posted her lifetime best mark in the pole vault in Blacksburg. She went 12-11.05 to finish third in the Virginia Tech Challenge and move into second place all-time at Duke behind Olympian Jillian Schwartz. The jump was an NCAA provisional qualifier as well as an ECAC mark. Ellis, a senior from New Brighton, Minn., set a new school record in the long jump of 25-2.75 making him the first Blue Devil, indoor or outdoor, to break the 25 foot barrier. He finished third in the event and qualified provisionally for NCAAs. On Saturday in the triple jump, Ellis went 48-10.00 to capture second place, registering an IC4A mark in the process. The league will now shift its attention to the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which open on Thursday, February, 26 and run through Saturday, Feb. 28, at Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House.
