    CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Florida State men's track and field team won its second Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship title, its first since 1994, while the North Carolina women's track and field team took home the ACC Indoor title, its tenth in eleven years.

    Highlights from the second day's action included three NCAA automatic qualifying times. North Carolina's Shalane Flanagan and Duke's Shannon Rowbury both qualified in the mile run, posting times of 4:38.25 and 4:42.45, respectively. UNC's Alice Schmidt also recorded a time good enough to assure her a place at the NCAA Championship, with her 2:05.54 performance in the 800 meter dash.

    Three NCAA automatic qualifying times were recorded on the first day of the Championship with North Carolina's Laura Gerraughty's throw of 57'9" in the shot put, Lacy Janson's 14'0" performance in the pole vault and Kristin Price's time of 16:09.80 in the 5,000 meter dash.

    On day two of the Championship, North Carolina's Alice Schmidt set the only meet record of the day, as she ran a time of 2:05.54 in the 800 meter dash. Her time broke the eleven-year-old record of 2:06.62 held by North Carolina's Rebecca Russell.

    Three ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship records fell on the first day of competition. North Carolina's Distance Medley Relay team of Carol Henry, Jennifer Nelms, Alice Schmidt and Shalane Flanagan turned in a time of 11:36.20 to better the previous record of 11:39.98 set a year ago by the Tar Heels. Florida State's Lacy Janson cleared 14'0" in the pole vault event, breaking her own ACC Championship record of 13'7.25" from a year ago. Laura Gerraughty of North Carolina set a new mark in the shot put event, recording a 57'9" performance. The previous record in the shot put event was set in 2001 by Clemson's Jamine Moton.
