Georgia Tech's Jordan and Virginia Tech's Harrison Earn ACC Indoor Track and Field Weekly Honors
Feb. 9, 2010
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Georgia Tech senior Alphonso Jordan and Virginia Tech senior Queen Harrison were selected for this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week honors for the period ending February 7. Jordan is the second Yellow Jacket in as many weeks to garner the award, while Harrison—who broke two of her own school records over the weekend—is taking her second weekly accolade in three weeks. Jordan won the long jump, came in second in the triple jump, and provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in both events at the unscored Virginia Tech Elite Meet (Feb. 5-6). The Charlotte, N.C., native’s 24 feet, 11.25 inches in the long jump is the fourth best mark on the ACC performance list this season, while his leap of 52 feet, 6.75 inches in the triple jump tops the league’s charts.
ACC Indoor Track and Field action continues this weekend with 10 of 12 teams in action. Just over two weeks remain on the schedule before the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The three-day meet will be hosted by Virginia Tech and run from February 25-25.
