![]() Women's Track and Field Opens Indoor Season with 86-41 Victory at Harvard

Cambridge, Mass. - The Boston College women's track and field team opened its indoor track season with an 86-41 victory against Harvard. The meet took place at Harvard's Gordon Track. Boston College claimed first place in 10 of 15 events during Saturday's competition. The Eagles were led by senior Kasey Hill who placed first in the 200-meter dash, the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Hill finished with a time of 25.75 in the 200 meters, and was followed by three Eagles as the team swept the event. Sophomore Katherine was second in the event, crossing in 26.08, while freshmen Meaghan Callahan and Teyahnie Boone were third and fourth with times of 26.17 and 26.40, respectively. In the 60-meter hurdle, Hill finished first, while Sherman placed second and junior Tiana Riel was third. Hill crossed in 8.77, while Sherman and Riel had marks of 8.90 and 8.94. Hill also captured the long jump with a leap of 5.64 meters. Riel placed second in that even, while freshman Melissa Hadfield was third. Tiana Riel would go on to capture the triple jump with a mark of 11.68 meters. Freshman Jessica Driscoll won the one-mile race, crossing the line in 5:03.31. Classmate Gretchen Andrus was second with a time of 5:05.28, while junior Mary Heitkamp placed third, finishing in 5:09.24.
Boston College freshmen also captured the 400 and 800-meter events, as Caitlyn Bailey finished the 400 meter run in 57.76 and Samantha Garwych won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:16.08. Freshman Rosemary Guerin won the shot put with a throw of 11.66 meters. Sophomore Nichole Lister placed first in the 5,000-meter event. Lister had a time of 16:54.22, while senior Laurel Burdick finished closely behind, crossing in 16:54.27. The Eagles also captured the 4x800-meter relay, with a collective time of 9:35.20. |
