Pryor launched a 193-02 in her second throw of the competition. In both the men's and the women's hammer throw the top 12 finishers advance into the finals on Friday.

Ford, 4x100m Relay Qualify for Finals at NCAA Outdoor Championships
Jacoby Ford qualified for the finals of both the 100m dash and 4x100m relay Wednesday to lead the Tiger track & field program at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Ford, who finished fifth last year in the 100m at the national meet, will be joined on the relay by Justin Murdock, C.J. Spiller, and Trenton Guy.

The 4x1 won the second heat to qualify for Friday's final, which will be at 7:15 PM (Eastern). Murdock got the group off to a great start, followed by a strong backstretch from Spiller. After what appeared to be a slower final exchange, Ford turned on the speed in the anchor leg to give the Tigers the victory with a time of 39.08.

This marks the second time in the last three years Clemson has qualified for the finals of the 4x1. The 2007 team of Travis Padgett, Corey Brown, Cowin Mills, and Spiller finished seventh at the NCAA Championships. Clemson was fifth-fastest during the preliminary round Wednesday.

Marcelle, Miller Advance to Finals at NCAA Championships
Junior Steve Marcelle and senior Jerome Miller earned a spot in the finals of their respective events on day one of the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Marcelle, who posted the fifth-best mark in the shot put prelims, advanced on his third and final throw of the day with a distance of 61'5.75". The Green Bay, Wisc. native qualifies for his first-ever outdoor finals. Marcelle will compete in the discus prelims on Thursday at 2 p.m., before returning to the pit for the shot put finals at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow evening.

After more than a three-hour delay due to inclement weather in the Fayetteville area, Miller and the high jumpers headed out for competition at 11:30 p.m. It took just two jumps for the Stafford, Va. native to advance through the prelims with a clearance of 6'10.75". Miller advances to the finals for the second time in his career. They will take place on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.

Three Hurricanes Advance at National Championships
The 13th-ranked University of Miami women's track and field team endured a three-hour weather delay during the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but saw three student-athletes advance into latter rounds at the University of Arkansas' McDonnell Track.

Three-time All-American Murielle Ahoure needed to place in the top-four in her semifinal heat of the 100-meter dash to advance to Friday's 8:35 p.m. final. At 11:55 p.m., the Bristow, Va. native did just that, placing fourth in the second and final semifinal heat with a time of 11.56 seconds. Her time was the fifth-fastest of the round.

Ahoure's semifinal appearance was made possible with her first-round performance earlier in the evening. The senior's heat winning time of 11.17 seconds was more than enough to move advance her to the next round.

Three Cavaliers Advance in Opening Day of NCAAs
Despite a longer than anticipated wait to race, junior Stephanie Garcia fought off a three-hour rain delay and joined freshman Lance Roller and junior Meghan Briggs in advancing to the next round of their respective events on the opening day of the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus. Sophomore Steve Finley completed his season finishing 21st overall in the 3000m steeplechase.

Prior to the delay, Roller kicked things off for the Cavaliers by running a personal-best 1:47.88 in the 800m. He finished fourth in his heat, but crossed with three other competitors within half-of-a-second of each other - led by Penn State's Ryan Foster's winning time of 1:47.57. Roller's time was good enough to advance him to tomorrow's semifinals though, giving him an opportunity to vie for a spot in the nine-competitor finals. The semifinal race kicks off tomorrow at 8:25 p.m., with the top three times from each heat and the next three best times advancing to Saturday's finals.

In the javelin, the first flight went off under perfect conditions, while Briggs' flight had to fight through a downpour of rain. Regardless of the weather though, Briggs held tough, throwing 160' 8" to claim the 10th best throw of the competition, while Anna Wessman from Texas-El Paso was the top qualifier out of the event with a mark of 181' 5". Briggs top-12 finish was good enough to advance her to her first-ever NCAA finals appearance, set to begin at 6:30 p.m., on Friday.
