![]() Track & Field ACCtion: Sunday, May 4 May 5, 2008 Seven Blue Devils Qualify For Postseason At Duke Twilight DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke Outdoor Track and Field team hosted and competed in the Duke Twilight at Wallace Wade Stadium on Sunday. Seven different Blue Devils qualified for the postseason with their performances throughout the evening and two Duke competitors won their recpective events. Freshman Amy Fryt placed third in the pole vault with a 12'-3.5" mark. That height was a personal best, qualified her for the ECAC's for the third time this season and became the fourth-highest vault in Duke history. Fryt is now just four inches away from the NCAA regional qualifying standard of 12'-7.5." Redshirt freshman John Austin was a late entry in the javelin on Sunday night. He promptly won the event with a toss of 213'-2," which qualified him for the NCAA Regionals and the IC4A's for the sixth time this season. Austin has now won both meets he has entered at Wallace Wade Stadium this season and has placed in the top three in all six meets he has thrown in. Junior Kevin McDermott ran the 3,000m steeplechase at the Twilight and finished fourth in 9:13.66. That performance qualified him for the IC4A's for the first time this season. McDermott will now seek the NCAA Regional qualifying standard of 9:07.0.
