DURHAM, N.C. --- Jocelyn White added to her ACC-best and NCAA regional qualifying mark in winning the women's discus at the Duke Invitational held Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium. White heaved a 173-0 toss to claim the crown, and Riana Lynn joined her in the top five, putting forth a season-best 157-6 effort to achieve a regional qualifying standard herself.

Carolina also put three runners in the top six in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Addie Bracy and Laura Cummings finished second and third, running 10:35.37 and 10:35.99 times, respectively. Cummings' time gave her an NCAA regional qualifying mark, while Bracy set a new career-best in improving her regional mark set in the season opener. Morgan Stengel added a personal-best 10:57.74 in finishing sixth.

The UNC women compiled two more top-ten finishes in a throws event with strong showings from freshmen Kimberly Warren and Norjai Palma in the shot put. Warren's 46-7 1/4 gave her a runner-up finish and Palma's 42-4 effort put her in eighth.

Alexandra Coppadge added a fifth-place effort in the 100-meter hurdle for UNC, clocking a 14.96 time.

The women also received a fourth-place showing from La'Shonda Carter in the long jump. Carter leapt 18-3 1/4 in just missing out on a top-three performance. The women's 4x400-meter relay ran a 3:56.07 to finish eighth.

For the Carolina men, Reggie Berry highlighted the day as he turned in a runner-up finish in the men's 200 meters, running a 21.53 to finish just out of first.

UNC had two top-10 finishers in the men's high jump as Mateo Sossah and Matthew Villemain each cleared 6-2 3/4 to finish sixth and seventh, respectively. Two more Tar Heels placed in the top 10 in the 800 meters as Ryan Shaver and Cody Harper both ran 1:54.57 times to finish ninth and 10th, respectively.
