AUBURN, Ala. - Ashlee Kidd ran a personal-best and NCAA Regional qualifying time of 59.53 in the women's 400-meter hurdles to lead the No. 21 Georgia Tech women's track and field team at the Tiger Classic on Saturday in Auburn, Ala.

Kidd, a senior from St. Petersburg, Fla., also ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team, which qualified for the NCAA Regional with a time of 45.34. She has now met NCAA Regional qualifying standards in five different races this outdoor season. She has previously qualified in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash.

The 4x400m relay team featured juniors Shantrell Moss and Shantia Moss and sophomore Jacqua Williams, who was making her outdoor season debut after leading the Tech women's basketball team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Williams also ran the 100-meter dash finishing in third place with a time of 11.88.

Shantia Moss ran an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 13.37 in the 100-meter hurdles for a first-place finish. Senior Fofanah Fatmata finished second in the hurdles with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 13.52.

Junior Elena Linn placed first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best, an NCAA Regional qualifying and facility record time of 10:30.63. Linn also improved on her second-best time in school history. Sophomore Katina Zuganelis crossed the line fourth with a personal-best time of 11:16.52. Zuganelis' mark places her fourth in school history.
 

 

Senior Jenny Sims ended her day with a pair of seventh-place finishes. In the 800-meter run, she crossed the line in 2:15.10 and finished the 1500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:31.42. Senior Mary Chind crossed the line 10th in the 1500m with a personal-best time of 4:38.19.

Junior Nisha Kurian crossed the line second in the 5000-meter run with a season-best time of 17:08.61. Chind placed third with a time of 18:01.13 and sophomore Veronica Kinard finished sixth with a personal-best time of 18:44.90.

Shantrell Moss placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.48. In the 400-meter dash, freshman Tiffany Grant crossed the line fifth with a time of 55.51.

Freshman Samantha Musil placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 45 feet, 5 ¾ inches. Sophomore Kimery Hern finished fourth in the hammer throw with an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 185 feet, 1 inch.

Sophomore Mellany Stanislaus placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 1 inch. In 10th place was sophomore Galina Becker, who finished the triple jump with a mark of 38 feet, 2 ¾ inches.

Tech will return to action on April 19-21 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
