Greeley's Top National Mark Leads Tigers at Virginia Tech Elite Meet

Mitch Greeley set a new national standard in the pole vault this season after clearing 18'1" and winning the event at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet on Saturday. Greeley, the school record-holder both indoor and outdoor, earned his first-ever automatic qualification to next month's NCAA Championships.

Padgett Wins 60m Dash, Leads Clemson on Friday at Virginia Tech Elite Meet

Travis Padgett won the 60m dash Friday to pace the Clemson men's track & field team at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. The sophomore sensation had an NCAA qualifying time of 6.66 in the final at the Hokies' Rector Field House indoor facility.

Mamona, Kennedy Lead Lady Tigers at Virginia Tech Elite

Patricia Mamona recorded her second runner-up finish of the weekend Saturday in the long jump to lead Clemson's women's track & field team on the final day of competition at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. Mamona was runner-up Friday in the triple jump after posting a strong NCAA qualifying mark.

Mamona's Triple Jump Effort Highlights Clemson's First Day at Virginia Tech

Patricia Mamona finished runner-up in the triple jump and April Sinkler moved up the ranks in school history in the high jump to lead Clemson's track & field efforts Friday at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. Mamona posted a strong NCAA provisional qualifying mark after finishing as the top collegian in the triple jump.

McKeever & Kotecki Shine For Duke In Blacksburg & New York

BLACKSBURG, Va., and NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Duke women's track and field team competed in the Virginia Tech Elite Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Blacksburg, Va., while the Duke men were split between that meet and the Armory New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City. Two relay teams and four individuals qualified for postseason meets throughout the weekend.

Women's: On Friday night in Blacksburg, the distance medley relay team of sophomore Emily Sherrard, freshman Devotia Moore, senior captain Allison Stankavage and junior Maddie McKeever placed fourth in a time of 11:35.24. That mark qualified the quartet for the ECAC Championships in March.

McKeever took the next step individually today by being the first Blue Devil this season to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships. The native of Littleton, Colo., ran a personal best indoor 3,000m in 9:20.51, which placed her second by less than one-half second. She also qualifies for the ECAC's in her second event this year.

Lemons, Fofanah Lead Jackets at VT Elite Meet

Senior James Lemons II placed first in the men's long jump to lead the Georgia Tech men's and 22nd-ranked women's teams on the second day of the VT Elite meet at the Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech campus.

Fatmata Fofanah crossed the line second in the women's 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA Championship automatic qualifying time of 8.09 seconds. Shantia Moss placed third in the race with a provisional qualifying time of 8.15 seconds.

Jordan Leads Tech on Day One of VT Elite Meet

Alphonso Jordan finished with NCAA provisional qualifying mark to win the men's triple jump as he led the Georgia Tech track & field teams on the first day of the VT Elite meet at the Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech campus.

The No. 22 ranked women's team was led by Shantia Moss, who finished second in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.40. Jenae Anderson crossed the line eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.57.

Harris Continues Where He Left Off For Men's Track

The University of Miami men's track and field team finished the two-day Virginia Tech Elite at the Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech. Three-time All-American Tim Harris known for his prowess in the 800-meters, won the event with a NCAA provisional time of 1:50.34.

Hurricanes Perform Well at Day One of Virginia Tech Elite

The University of Miami men's track and field team completed the first day of the Virginia Tech Elite at the Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech. The DMR team of Tim Harris, Cory Nelms, Patrick O'Donnell and Richard Bernard set a new school record with a time of 10:05.52, good for a third place finish, behind Georgia Tech and Penn State.

Simkins Caps off Weekend With Another Win

The University of Miami women's track and field team finished the two-day Virginia Tech Elite at the Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech, with junior All-American Krista Simkins taking home another win. After winning the 400-meter dash yesterday with the third fastest time in the NCAA this year, Simkins came back today reaching a provisional mark and winning the 200-meters with a time of 23.74.

The University of Miami women's track and field team completed the first day of the Virginia Tech Elite at the Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech. All-American Krista Simkins ran the third fastest time in the NCAA in the 400-meters Friday night, as she won the event with a time of 53.34.

Castlin sets another 60m hurdle school record

Sophomore Kristi Castlin established another school and personal best in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Virginia Tech Track & field team on the second day of competition at the VT Elite Saturday in Rector Field House. The Hokies set two new school records on the day with four personal-record performances in addition to several season-best efforts.

Hokies open competition at VT Elite

Sophomore sprinter/hurdler Queen Harrison registered a personal-record performance in the 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the national championships and lead the Virginia Tech Track & field team during the first night of the VT Elite on Friday at Rector Field House. The Hokies also set a school records and registered four national qualifying performances on the evening.

Wake Forest Concludes Weekend Action at App State, Virginia Tech

The Wake Forest track and field team wrapped up competition over the weekend at the Virginia Tech Elite Invitational and Appalachian State Limited Open on Saturday.

In her first spring event, freshman distance runner Marley Burns placed second in the 5000m run with a time of 17:44.71 in Blacksburg. Anna Nosenko, the newest addition to the Wake Forest roster, finished at 9:51.73 in the 3000m run, good for sixth place. Nicole Schappert finished up a solid distance and mid distance outing for the Demon Deacons at the Virginia Tech Elite Invite with a first place finish in the mile, running 4:51.04.

In Boone, Liz Hankinson led three Wake Forest finishers in the mile, taking first place with a mark of 5:30.07. Suzie Clinchy and Kelly Laffey followed with sixth and seventh places, respectively, posting times of 5:41.54 and 5:44.52.

Boston College Tops Out At New Balance Collegiate Invitational

The Boston College women's indoor track team competed against 26 other collegiate squads at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y. on Friday and Saturday, marking 14 top 25 finishes.

Highlighting the top performances were the first place finish by the 4x800 meter relay team and a third place finish by the distance medley squad. The 4x800 team clocked a time of 8:51.81, a full 8 seconds faster than second-place Oklahoma. The distance medley relay crossed in 11:20.54, marking the fastest time in the ACC this season.

Men's: Sophomore Michael Kotecki improved upon his personal best in the high jump on Friday morning in New York by hitting a height of 6'-8.25." Kotecki placed fifth and qualified for the IC4A Championships for the first time in his career. The mark also pushed him up to No. 2 all-time at Duke in high jump.

Williams, Taylor Help FSU Track & Field Leap To Success in New York

Florida State topped off two days of competition at the New Balance Invitational with two career-best, first-place performances from Jamaican natives Kimberly Williams and Ray Taylor in the triple jump. In all the Seminoles notched two automatic and three provisional qualifying marks at the Armory Track in New York City.

Two weeks after freshman Williams launched herself to the top of the national triple jump standings in Gainesville, she bested her own mark with a distance of 45' 0.25". The outstanding leap gave Williams first place in the event as well as an automatic qualifying mark. It also earned her the all-time FSU indoor triple jump record.

All-American transfer Taylor also picked up an automatic qualifying mark in his first jump of the season, notching his best indoor triple jump to date with a 53' 2.75". Taylor, the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Triple Jump Champion, now holds the fourth-best mark in the nation as well as the fourth-best mark in FSU history.

Aluko Jumps into Maryland Record Books

Last week, Toni Aluko jumped herself into the Maryland history books in the long jump. But apparently, that wasn't enough for the Maryland senior. Yesterday, Aluko posted the third-best high jump in Maryland history, tied the meet record, met the NCAA provisional mark and won the event, at the eighth annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York.

Terps Post Five Career-Best Marks at New Balance Collegiate

Jillian Anwah and Aysha Gregory both posted career-best marks in the shot put to lead Maryland performances during day one of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational yesterday.

Felnagle Opens Season With Big Victory

Brie Felnagle opened up her 2008 campaign on Saturday with a dominant performance in the 3,000 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City. Felnagle eclipsed the NCAA automatic mark of 9:15.80 with a race of 9:09.57, less than 10 seconds shy of the school record. In other action, Austin Davis claimed the triple jump with a leap of 50-06.25 to reach the provisional standard.

Keller Claims Pole Vault Title At New Balance Collegiate Invitational

The North Carolina track and field teams completed the first day of the prestigious New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday in New York City, N.Y. and seven Tar Heels turned in top 10 performances, led by Daniel Keller who claimed the pole vault title as he cleared 16-02.75 in the win. Addie Bracy tallied a provisional mark in the 5,000 as she took home third place in the race. The Tar Heels will wrap up competition on Saturday in the second day of action.

Cavaliers conclude day two at Armory Invitational

The Virginia indoor track and field team concluded day two of the Armory Collegiate Invitational this evening. Five more Cavaliers finished in the top of their events to add to the seven from yesterday.

Fourth-year Emily Harrison led the women's side with a fourth place finish in the 3,000 meter run. Harrison crossed the line in a personal-best time of 9:30.24. Third-year Sara Casscells also placed for the women, taking sixth in the one mile, with a personal-best time of 4:52.93.

Cavalier women win two events at Armory Collegiate Invitational

Two school records fell and two Cavaliers won their events for the Virginia indoor track and field team, while seven others placed in the top eight of their events at the Armory Collegiate Invitational, taking place in The Armory Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y., on Friday.

Boston College Registers Strong Performances At Valentine Invitational

The Boston College men's indoor track team competed against over 21 other collegiate and professional squads at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday, marking six top 25 finishes.

Juniors Tim Ritchie and James LaGreca placed 22nd (8:27.36) and 23rd (8:28.36) in the 3000-meter run. Freshman Andrew MacIsaac and senior Joshua Springer ran the 1000-meter in 2:31.63 and 2:31.93 respectively, taking 23rd and 24th. Junior Ben Kocarnik placed 15th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.35 meters and freshman Conor Shelly marked a career-best jump of 1.88 meters in the high jump, placing 20th.
