Florida State's Dan Frebel and Georgia Holderness Named ACC Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State senior diver Dan Frebel and Seminole senior swimmer Georgia Holderness have been selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week. Frebel won both diving events against sixth-ranked Florida last week, posting his best scores of the season. Holderness took a pair of first place finishes in the breaststroke events.

Frebel, a senior from Indianapolis, Ind. firmly cemented his qualification for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships with two impressive performances against the Gators. On the one-meter board, Frebel captured first place with a score of 358.58. On the three-meter board, Frebel posted a collegiate career best mark of 398.03 over the six dives.

Holderness, a senior from Butleigh, Somerset, England claimed first place in both breaststroke events against No. 5 ranked Florida. Her winning times came in the 100 breast (1:03.60) and 200 breast (2:18.09). She finished third in the 200 IM (2:12.86) and fifth in the 200 free (1:51.21) to lead the Seminoles.

Florida State will send a small delegation to the U.S. Open Short Course Nationals this weekend in Atlanta, Ga. The national meet runs Dec. 4-6. The entire Seminole squad will return to the pool on Jan. 6 against Boston College at 3 p.m.
