GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland sophomore John Hauser has been named the ACC Swimming & Diving Men's Performer of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. His teammate, junior Megan Lafferty, was named the Women's Performer of the Week.
Hauser swept his freestyle events Saturday to help Maryland pick up its first win of the year against defending America East champion UMBC. The Pottstown, Pa., native touched the wall first in the 50 free (20.65), 100 free (45.90), and 200 free (1:39.88) and also took part in the winning 200 medley relay (1:31.28).
Lafferty picked up her fourth straight 50 free win to start the season as she helped guide the Terrapins to a rout of defending America East champion UMBC. The native of Willow, Grove, Pa., also swam the second and third leg, respectively, on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays. Lafferty, who swam the fastest time in the 100 fly in the conference last year, won again in the event on Saturday (55.77).
