ACC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Virginia Tech sophomore Kaylea Arnett and Georgia Tech senior Brandon Makinson have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female and Male Divers of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office. Virginia senior Lauren Perdue and Florida State sophomore Conner Knight were recognized as the Female and Male Swimmers of the Week.
Arnett led the Virginia Tech women to a tri-meet win over Georgia Tech and Florida Gulf Coast. The Spring, Texas, native swept the springboard diving events, earning a 306.55 on the 1-meter and 326.05 on 3-meter, both NCAA Zone qualifiers. Arnett is undefeated on the 3-meter this season and has been named the ACC Female Diver of the Week twice this year.
Makinson defeated the Hokie men on both the 1-meter (361.50) and 3-meter (380.85) to earn his third ACC Male Diver of the Week accolade this season. The native of Alberta, Canada, won both springboard diving events for the third time in as many meets this season.
Perdue had four first-place finishes and posted two NCAA B qualifying times to lead the Cavaliers to a dual meet victory over South Carolina. The Greenville, N.C., native won the 50 free in 22.82, the sixth-best time in the country, and touched first in the 200 free in 1:46.66, tied for seventh-best in the nation. She also was the anchor in the 200 medley relay (1:42.74) and the leadoff in the 400 free relay (3:27.51).
Knight won two races in the Seminoles' tri-meet victory over Florida Southern and Emory. In the 200 fly, the Juno Beach, Fla., native posted the 12th-best mark in the country at 1:48.22, and followed that with a NCAA B qualifying time of 48.13 in the 100 fly, the eighth-best time.
