Wixted, Hwang Named ACC Swimming Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke junior Ben Hwang has been named the ACC Men’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Duke sophomore Christine Wixted has been named the ACC Women’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week.
Wixted, for the second consecutive week, won both the 100 and 200 breast as the Blue Devils beat UNC Wilmington and lost to Florida State and Virginia Tech. The Greenwood Village, Colo. native posted NCAA B qualifying times of 1:02.05 in the 100 breast and 2:15.95 in the 200 breast. She also beat a field of 16 swimmers in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:05:47.
Hwang tallied his second NCAA B qualifying time in the 50 free in as many weeks, finishing in 20.21 and besting a field of 15. In the 100 free, he finished first out of 16 swimmers with a time of 45.51. The Cerritos, Calif. native still holds the top time in the 50 free in the nation for his 19.84 finish last week.
