The Atlantic Coast Conference had 18 All-American performances at the 2006 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships held in Atlanta, Ga., March 23-25.
NC State's Cullen Jones claimed the ACC's first national championship in six years when he won the 50 free with a time of 19.18. The last national champion for the ACC was Ed Moses of Virginia who won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke titles in 2000.
Virginia paced the ACC's team scoring, finishing 18th with 39 points. NC State tied for 21st with 28 points.
ACC Diver of the Year Derek Starks of Miami finished fourth in one-meter diving. Virginia Tech's Gus Calado also finished fourth in his event, posting a time of 1:45.24 in the 200 butterfly.
