2012 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships Kick off Wednesday in Christiansburg

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving and Men’s Diving Championships begin Wednesday, Feb. 15 and continue through Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va. A live video stream of event finals will be available on theACC.com Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Florida State (5-0) and Virginia (4-0) women finished tied atop the standings with perfect conference records. The Cavaliers have won four straight championships under coach Mark Bernardino, and have won nine in school history. The Seminoles, coached by Neil Harper, won the only championship in program history in 2006.
North Carolina finished third in the regular season standings with a 6-1 record in ACC competition. The Tar Heels have won a conference-leading 16 championships, with the last coming in 2007.
Virginia Tech, the championship’s host, finished the season with a 4-3 conference record. Host institutions have won the championship 10 times since 1979, including North Carolina in 2007, the last home team to accomplish the feat.
The Men’s Swimming Championships will be held one week later from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25.
