Feb. 2, 2010
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson sophomore Seth Broster and Virginia Tech junior Sarah Milton were selected as this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, for the period ending January 31. Broster is the first Tiger to garner an ACC weekly swimming and diving accolade this season, while Milton is taking her second honor in three weeks.
Broster competed in four events in the Tigers’ regular-season finale against Duke (Jan. 30), finishing in first place in three competitions. Individually, the Lexington, Ky., native won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.21, and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.19, as Clemson defeated the Blue Devils, 182-116. Broster also guided two relay teams to victory, as the 400-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay squads clocked times of 3:05.19 and 1:32.00, respectively.
Milton, who was also named the ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week on January 19, won both the one and three-meter dives in dual meet victories over West Virginia (156-128) and Duquesne (136-125) on January 30. The Plano, Texas, native scored a season-best 283.27 points in a first-place performance in the one-meter dive, then broke her own school record in the three-meter dive with 337.80 points. Her three-meter mark stands as the fifth-best in the ACC this season.
ACC swimming and diving action continues this week with six teams in action.
The ACC Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week will be announced by 5 p.m. each Tuesday during the season. More ACC swimming and diving information can be accessed at theACC.com.
