GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia sophomore Taylor Grey and North Carolina senior David MacDonald have been named the ACC Swimming & Diving Men’s Co-Performers of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Maryland junior Megan Lafferty was named the ACC Women’s Performer of the Week.
Grey set pool records in both the 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley and added a third win in the 100 breaststroke to help the Cavaliers defeat Virginia Tech. The native of Williston, Vt., led a 1-2-3 Virginia finish in the 400 IM, the second-to-last event of the meet, pacing the Cavaliers to the come-from-behind victory.
MacDonald was named the outstanding diver of The Classic at SMU as he won the three-meter competition by a margin of over 25 points over second place, and finished in second in the one-meter competition. The award is the second at the Classic in consecutive years for the native of Darien, Conn. This year’s meet featured five top 20 teams in the six team field.
Lafferty won two individual events and helped Maryland sweep all four relays to beat Pittsburgh, Villanova, and Richmond over the weekend. The Willow Grove, Pa., native won both the 100 fly and 50 free as the Terrapins moved to 7-1 in dual meet action this season.
