GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State junior Barrett Miesfeld and sophomore Hannah Freyman have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office. Duke junior Nick McCrory was named the Male Diver of the Week.
Miesfeld took home first place in the 100 butterfly on Saturday while swimming against No. 12 Georgia and the Savannah College of Art & Design. The Tucson, Ariz., native touched the wall in 48.67 seconds to beat the field by more than two seconds. Miesfeld also swam on the 200 medley relay, the 200 free relay, and the 800 free relay as the Wolfpack defeated SCAD, 212-43, and fell to Georgia, 144-112.
Freyman won the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.10 to help the Wolfpack women split a tri-meet with No. 3 Georgia and SCAD. The native of Peoria, Ill., finished in fourth in the 50 free and guided the 200 and 400 free relay teams to second place.
McCrory finished second in the 1-meter and third in the 3-meter at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. The native of Chapel Hill, N.C., posted NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events in his first collegiate competition since March of 2011, after taking the year away from Duke to compete in the London Olympic Games.
