Nevo Swims Second-Fastest 400-IM Time In NCAA History Friday Night At National Championships
A second place finish in the 400-IM by Gal Nevo led the Georgia Tech men's swimming team on the second day of action at the NCAA Championships held at the Student Rec Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Nevo finished in a school record time of 3:38.00, exactly three seconds faster than his ACC record at last month's conference championship. Nevo's time beat Ryan Lochte's (Florida) NCAA record time of 3:38.15. Tyler Clary of Michigan finished first tonight with a time of 3:35.98. Nevo is now third in the world behind Clary and Michael Phelps.

Nevo earns All-American honors in the 400-IM, one night after securing a spot on the All-American squad for the 200-IM. He broke the ACC record in the 200-IM as well. 

Robison Finishes Fifth in 200 Freestyle
The Virginia men’s swimming team continued competition Friday in the 2009 NCAA Championships Thursday at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on Texas A&M’s campus.

Sophomore Scot Robison collected his first individual All-America honor with a fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished in 1:33.22 and is the second top-5 finisher for the Cavaliers in the championships, joining Matt McLean who was third Thursday in the 500 freestyle.

Virginia’s 200 medley relay team of Eric Olesen, Ryan Hurley, Lee Robertson and Robison picked up honorable mention All-America honors after a 12th-place finish. The Cavalier foursome finished with a time of 1:26.22 in the consolation finals. 

Miami's Ross Finishes Seventh in 3m Event
Miami junior Reuben Ross picked up his second All-America award in as many days with a seventh place showing in the 3-meter springboard diving event Friday evening at this year's NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships in College Station, Texas. This year's event is hosted by Texas A&M University inside the Student Recreation Natatorium.

Ross entered the day looking to defend his national title in the 3-meter event from a year ago. Though failing to achieve that goal, he did collect his second All-America honor of the week, and seeks the possibility of an All-America sweep tomorrow.

Ross finished the day with a final round score of 400.60, narrowly edging Sean Moore of Ohio State (400.55).

Horner Captures All-American Honors On The Three-Meter At 2009 NCAA Championships
Five members of the No. 21-ranked Florida State men's swimming earned All-American honors on Friday at the 2009 NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. Junior Terry Horner led the way for the Seminoles placing fifth on the three-meter board. FSU has 22 points which puts them in a tie for 21st-place heading into the final day.

A day after missing the finals in his signature event, Horner showcased his ability with an All-American performance on the three-meter. The Orlando, Fla., native scored 419.90 points on his way to his fourth career top eight finish at the NCAA Championships. Senior Dan Frebel earned a 27th-place finish with score of 306.90.

In the 800 free relay, the team of fifth-year senior Kyle Young, junior Andy Hodgson and sophomores Stephen Pendleton and Robby Hayes earned honorable mention All-American honors with a 16th-place finish touching the wall in 6:27.25.

Harris Earns All-America Honors In 400 IM
Sophomore Tyler Harris of the University of North Carolina's men's swimming and diving team earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 400-yard individual medley Friday night at the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at Texas A&M University. This marks the second straight year Harris has won honorable mention All-America honors in the event.

A native of Richmond, Va., Harris took 12th place in the event with a time of 3:44.93. Harris has earned his spot in the consolation finals by placing ninth in the preliminaries in the 400 IM in a time of 3:43.98.

The Tar Heels are in 33rd place after the second night of action with five team points.

Tech concludes second day at the NCAA Championships
The Virginia Tech men’s swimming and diving team competed in the second day of competition at the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. Freshman Charlie Higgins raced in the 100 back, while junior Mikey McDonald took part in the 3-meter dive.

In the preliminary round in the 100 back, Higgins posted the 20th best time, touching in at 47.02. The freshman will take part in the 200 back in the final day of action at the NCAA Championships on Saturday.

McDonald, who scored three points for Tech in the 1-meter dive yesterday, posted a score of 371.50 in the consolation final, bettering his preliminary score of 364.45. The junior tied for the 15th best score at the meet.
