Carolina's Depth Powers Tar Heels Past Wolfpack
The 15th-ranked University of North Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished their 2008-09 dual meet seasons on a strong note as the Tar Heel men utilized their superior depth to beat NC State 169-129 and the UNC women won 11 of 16 events en route to a 186-111 victory over their arch-rivals from State. The wins at NCSU's Willis Casey Natatorium allowed both UNC teams to finish their regular seasons with 6-3 overall marks and 4-1 records in the ACC.

The Tar Heel women led from start to finish in amassing their victory. UNC's men took the lead on the second event of the night 29-26 and never looked back. The Tar Heels and the Wolfpack each won eight events on the night and State triumphed in both relays. But UNC's depth in the 14 individual events, where UNC won eight of 14 contests, allowed the Tar Heels to outscore the Wolfpack by 36 points in the 2-3-4-5 spots in the 14 races combined.

Tyler Harris turned in the swim of the evening as he went 3:48.46 to win the 400-yard individual medley by 12.97 seconds over teammate Yi-Khy Saw. Harris broke the Casey Natatorium record in the event which had stood for 19 years since Virginia's Bill Smyth went 3:52.34 in 1990.

Boston College Swimming & Diving Competes at BU
The Boston College women's swimming and diving team fell, 212-88, in a dual meet at Boston University in the Competition Pool.

Fritsch was also part of BC's second place 200 yard individual medley relay team (1:50.80), along with Michaela Morr, Caitlin Doherty, and Kelly Leahey.

The Eagles' 400 yard freestyle relay team of Leahey, Morr, Patricia Kautz, and Caroline Byron also placed second (3:36.94).
