Wake Forest’s Sims named ACC Women’s Golfer of the Month


Sophomore posts two top-four finishes, top single round in September

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.org) – Wake Forest’s Sierra Sims has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for September.

Sims, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, tied for second place at the Cougar Classic at Charleston, South Carolina, on Sept. 14-16, then tied for fourth at Furman University’s Lady Paladin Invitational on Sept. 21-23.

Competing among a field of 120 golfers at the Cougar Classic, Sims carded a three-round, 10-under par score of 206 (65-68-73). She followed up with an even par score of 216 (69-70-77) to tie for fourth among a field of 90 at the Lady Paladin Invitational.

In addition to scoring under par in four of the sixth rounds she played last month, Sims carded the lowest individual round by an ACC golfer during the month with her 7-under 65 in the first round of the Cougar Classic. Her 4-under score of 68 in the second round tied for the fourth lowest. She currently ranks fourth in scoring average among ACC golfers at 70.3.
