GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest senior midfielder Kim Marshall has been named the ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league.

Marshall, who earned the first Player of the Week honor of her career, scored the game-winning goal to propel the Demon Deacons to 1-0 win at No. 10/14 Virginia Tech on Oct. 18. It was her first game playing the attacking midfielder position after spending 3.5 seasons at center back and three games at forward.

The win marked Wake Forest’s first win over a Top 10 team in nearly two years. Wake Forest is just the second team this season to hold the Hokies, who rank tied for seventh nationally in scoring offense, scoreless.

The ACC boasts six teams in the latest Soccer America Top 25 released on Tuesday, the most of any league, including four in the top seven. Florida State holds steady at No. 2, while Virginia is No. 4, North Carolina No. 5, Notre Dame No. 7, Virginia Tech No. 15 and Clemson No. 20.
