Wake Forest’s Grashoff and Dahmen Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Demon Deacons went 2-0 on the week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest’s Jule Grashoff and Valerie Dahmen have been named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Grashoff assisted both goals in Wake Forest’s 2-1 win at No. 4 Duke  on Friday to open ACC play, snapping a four-game losing streak against the Blue Devils. On Sunday against Richmond, the freshman forward from Bermen, Germany, scored two goals, including the game-winner. She tallied the first goal of the game in the sixth minute and then started the four-goal run in the second half with a goal in the 46th minute in a 6-1 victory.

Dahmen made seven saves, including six in the second half, to anchor the defense in the win at the fourth-ranked Blue Devils. Duke maintained pressure on Dahmen throughout the last five minutes of regulation but she prevented them from tying the game. The senior goalkeeper from Duisburg, Germany, followed up with four saves in the team’s win over Richmond.
