GREENSBORO, N.C. ( – Virginia senior forward Makenzy Doniak has been named the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and heads up the sport’s All-ACC Academic Team, as announced Tuesday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Doniak a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in speech pathology and audiology, is a four-time All-ACC Academic honoree. The 2015 ACC Offensive Player of Year and three-time All-ACC selection also collected Second Team NSCAA All-America, NSCAA Scholar All-America and CoSIDA Academic All-America honors following the 2015 season in which she helped lead Virginia to the ACC regular-season title and the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals.

Eleven schools are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team, which includes five student-athletes that earned NSCAA All-America honors in 2015. Seven members of the ACC All-Academic Team were named to either 2015 Capital One Academic All-America Team or the NSCAA Scholar All-America Team.

Along with Doniak, Virginia Tech’s Ashley Meier also claimed her fourth ACC All-Academic Team honor, while Boston College’s Haley Dowd, Duke’s Christina Gibbons, Florida State’s Megan Campbell, Notre Dame’s Cari Roccaro, and Hokie teammates Murielle Tiernan and Jordan Coburn collected the third of their careers. The ACC All-Academic Team also includes 26 players that were named to the first, second or third All-ACC Team and seven members of the ACC All-Freshman Team.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
