Loeb Advances To NCAA Semifinals

WACO, Texas - North Carolina All-America Jamie Loeb advanced to the NCAA Singles Championship semifinal by topping defending national-champion Danielle Collins of Virginia on Saturday.

No. 7 seed Loeb again took three sets to earn the victory, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, to become the first UNC singles semifinalist since Cinda Gurney in 1993.

After advancing to the quarterfinals as a freshman in 2014, Loeb will now face Miami’s Stephanie Wagner in the semis on Sunday at 1 p.m.


FINAL FOUR! Wagner Takes Down No. 1 Anderson

WACO, Texas – Stephanie Wagner of the University of Miami women’s tennis team defeated the top-ranked player in the nation, Robin Anderson, Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championship.

Wagner, ranked No. 11 and seeded No. 9-16, downed the UCLA senior, ranked and seeded No. 1, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, inside at Baylor’s Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center to reach the Final Four.

The Miami junior opened set one the same way she did each of the next two, by taking the first game. Anderson then responded by winning three straight games to go up 3-1. The last of those three was the first of five consecutive breaks, leading to Anderson serving, ahead 5-3.
