Georgia Tech’s Townsend, Greenwald and Pittsburgh’s Davis earn ACC Cross Country Honors

ACC Performers of the Week Presented by Havoline

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech senior Katie Townsend has been named the ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week while the Yellow Jackets’ Jeremy Greenwald and Pittsburgh’s Cullen Davis were selected as the Men’s Cross Country Co-Performers of the Week.

In Georgia Tech’s season opening race, Townsend picked up where she left off last season by finishing second overall at the UGA Invite, covering the 5k course in 18:19. The Augusta, Ga., product was less than five seconds off the leader and crossed the line more than 12 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.

Greenwald pulled away from the pack over the last mile and finished first overall at the UGA Invite, finishing the 8k race in a time of 25:53. The Chesapeake, Va., senior crossed the finish line 14 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and propelled the Yellow Jackets to the team title over Georgia and Mercer.

Davis opened the 2014 cross country season by winning the individual title at the UB Stampede Invite in Buffalo, N.Y., against 41 other competitors. In winning the 8k race in 25:05, the North Brunswick, N.J., senior led the Panthers to the team championship over three other teams.
