Three ACC Football Players Named to the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

GREENSBORO, NC – Three players from the Atlantic Coast Conference—Duke linebacker Kelby Brown, Pitt running back James Conner and Miami defensive back Deon Bush—were among the 11 players from the NCAA’s Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) chosen to the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works team announced today jointly by the Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coach Association (AFCA).

The team was selected from 77 FBS players nominated by their schools for the 2015 team, including 11 players who were nominated from the ACC.

In its 24th year, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® is comprised of athletes who have used their limited free time to perform inspirational acts of service. This summer, the program received an all-time record high 197 nominations from colleges and universities across the country in the NCAA’s FBS, FCS, Divisions II and III and the NAIA.

Duke’s Brown, a redshirt senior linebacker from Matthews, N.C., had his career cut short earlier this year, suffering a knee injury in preseason practice in August, and will miss the 2015 season. Conner, a junior from Erie, Pa., who was the 2014 ACC Football Player of the Year, also will most of the 2015 season as he suffered a season-ending injury in the Panthers’ opener. Bush is a senior defensive back from Miami, Fla., who keys a Hurrricane defensive unit that ranks sixth nationally in pass efficiency defense and eighth in the nation in total defense.

In addition to Brown, Conner and Bush, the following eight ACC football players were nominated for the team from the ACC by their schools:
