Thirty-three from the ACC Named to the 2016 Tewaaraton Watch Lists

15 men and 18 women considered early contenders for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2016 Tewaaraton Award men’s and women’s watch lists, with 33 ACC student-athletes recognized. The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour.

Among the ACC’s 33 on the watch lists are five former finalists from 2015, including Boston College’s Sarah Mannelly, Duke’s Myles Jones, Notre Dame’s Barbara Sullivan and Matt Kavanagh, and Syracuse’s Kayla Treanor.
The 15 ACC men and 18 women representatives lead all leagues. The Virginia men and Duke women tied for the national lead with five Cavaliers and four Blue Devils named to the watch lists.

An ACC women’s lacrosse student-athlete has won the Tewaaraton Award seven times in the 15-year history of the award, while an ACC men’s lacrosse student-athlete has earned college lacrosse’s top honor five times. Syracuse men’s lacrosse has had an additional three players win the award prior to joining the league.
The Tewaaraton Award presented by Under Armour annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
